Specialised TA Unit Sites
Map driven design groups and sites that specialise exclusively in unit collating and reviewing. This barely scratches the surface however, as most TA modding sites do both mapping and unit creation. See Design Links. |

Core Prime |
|
This is the second version of the old unit design group. (You can find the original Core Prime units listed at TAUEC.) The new Core Prime is a sizeable and active design site with a huge range of units, many who have starred in more recent unit compilations. Budding unit builders can also submit their units to the site for review. |

Switeck's TA Bugfix and Junk Drawer |
|
The home web folder of the exceptional Switeck Bugfix, the custom mod/unofficial patch that made a lot of other TA mods possible. There's a number of other Bugfix related resources and some of Switeck's other funky stuff. This junk drawer is always worth a good rummage! |

Home page of the excellent utility that fixes unit conflicts in Total Annihilation: the TA Conflict Crusher. If you're downloading and using individual units without using TA:Mutation or the TA Commander mod switcher by the Antirral Royal Engineers', then you'll almost certainly need this old utility. |

The Total Annihilation Research And Development group haven't updated their web site since 2000, but they've made excellent custom units over the years. You'll find many of their powerful creations in unit compilations like UTASP and TAUCP. |

The TA Units Evaluation Centre is a large and well established unit database. It might be a little old and its page formatting a bit ill fitting, but it keeps detailed records of all the old unit groups, mods and unit packs that made Total Annihilation great. An invaluable resource. |

Unit Review Central |
|
A serious Total Annihilation custom unit review site. Custom units are submitted to a rigorous review based on efficiency, and how their balance and design fit within the original TA game. What's great about this site is that its cleanly laid out, and the reviewer, Storm, has absolutely no fear in either praising or damning a unit. Best of all, units that have been sharply criticised in the past have returned for fresh reviews and substantial improvements. This is about as rigorous as peer based quality control gets in the TA modding world. Its also a good starting point for anyone browsing for lone units to play with in their Skirmish TA games. And a good read, if you like this sort of thing. Its suffered a little from intermittent interest of late. |

Very old unit and mod site that recently stirred into life again by settling back into its coma again. Unlimited Units is home to Dune TA, C&C TA, the TA MOD and a considerable number of individual custom units. You'll have spotted many of their creations in a number of modern mega unit packs. |

General TA Design Links
Most design groups and modders in the TA community are all rounders rather than finicky specialists. Some people stop at mapmaking, but most unit makers and scripters will also work in mapping and tilesets.
Looking for a specific unit pack or TC? There's a list at the Custom Units page. |

Chaos Realm: one of the current generation of unit, map and mod design sites out there for Total Annihilation. Their Maps section is modest, but not shabby. There's a few custom units, a bit of fan art, its own custom AI and a lot of enthusiasm! |

Design-X is another example of the current generation of mappers, modders and unit builders furiously churning out maps like they're going out of style. There's about half a dozen pages of maps here, with a lot of them based on words and member's names. Design-X has a reasonable line up of its own individual custom units and multiplayer maps, and is responsible for the Ultimate War custom mod. |

M.A.D. TA: This group is a leading example of the "second generation" of TA modders, appearing three or four years after the game came out and probably one of the most prolific and consistently high quality unit groups for Total Annihilation around at the time. Just about everything they've put their hands to unit wise seems to come out right. M.A.D.TA units play well, look smart and rarely contain bugs. Not only did they assemble the mighty UTASP mod (of which many of their custom units appear) they also produced the custom race called the Rumadians; a completely custom third race to counter Arm and Core, with a unit line up almost as big as a mega pack and as comprehensive as the original game, using completely custom textures, sounds, clear build pics and a thematically consistent and readable design that instantly identifies them as Rumadian.
When they aren't building excellent custom units, or updating the Rumadian third race or the monstrous UTASP mega-mod, the fine folks at M.A.D.TA are busy making maps for their custom mods and units. Its a modest, but mixed selection. |

Merciless Creations is a custom design site for maps, tilesets and units that has grown from its original TA roots (as TADD) and expanded to include several other games. Vet TA mod players will recognise many of their old but indispensable creations. Its the home for several top notch mappers and tilesetters (most notably C_A_P) and their popular creations, the Evergreen and Adamante tileset. Merciless is now hosted by the Planet Dungeon Siege network. |

Shrimpy TA's master chef serves up a fine selection of nanolathed shellfish for the discriminating gourmet, garnished with savoury AI's, sprigs of fresh units, and sitting in a marinade of custom maps. The Total Annihilation Arsenal Network (TAAN) is a French TA design site dedicated to producing exotic units and custom maps, many of which can be seen inside the UTASP and TAUCP mega unit mods. They're currently responsible for the graphic upgrade mod for Total Annihilation called TA Evolva. Look under their Cartes Missions section for a sizeable and interesting selection of weird and wonderful Unique and Terragen styled maps. TAAN is also home to those extremely rare and elusive beasts: custom single player missions. |

This is a site dedicated to producing custom units, add on packs, and maps for TA.It does seem to be winding down for retirement now, but TADC does have a tutorial on how to build a unit - for anyone who's curious about building their own custom units this is a good starting point. There's also an AI for the Rhyoss Race mod. |

TA Power: cool unit and map site. TA-Power's units are exquisitely designed along with their substantial body of solid custom maps. This is home to the Arm Spider Pack and a number of other ÜberHack compatible packs. They're all good, both for AI skirmishes or serious netgaming, and a nicely sublime sense of design. Ah, old school TA modding - they don't make 'em like they useta! The new generation seems quite ordinary by comparison... |

Wormhole Productions: Interesting unit creation site that's hosting a number of intriguing unit packs, like the AC/DC race, the TA Aerial Assault Force (TAAAF), and the Gundam Supremacy Force pack (TAGSF) based on the manga mechas of the same name. Some of these packs are still very much under development. |
