Total Annihilation Custom Races
Why settle for just the Arm or Core? These TC's add an extra race (or two) to TA, complete with their own Commanders and unit line ups.
Indicates that the mod appears in TA:Mutation compatible format. |

The EDF
&
The Drones |
|
This is a two race total conversion - or rather, two single custom races that complement each other, if I've read things right, to oppose Are and Core as a third race. The Earth Defence Force (EDF) is a civilisation of humans who abandoned the Arm before TA's great war; their units are mostly aircraft. The Drones are an ancient top secret project by the Core to develop a line of covert, bug-shaped units. Its all in its early stages at this point in time, by the Drones pre-Alpha pack is available. |

The Lost Legacy (TLL)
 |
|
This is one of the best custom races around. Every essential unit slot is filled, and the units and structures themselves are absolutely first rate: intricately detailed and textured, nicely animated and cleverly scripted. The Lost Legacy looks like it just stepped out of a cutting edge modern game and feels more like a much needed upgrade to the game rather than just another collection of units. Everything you need in a third race, from basic scouts right through to nuclear silos and a few sub-Krogoth class super units are here. There's something like 162 fresh new units (and more to come),
expressly designed for the project. The only downside is that the complex units will tend to lag on older PC's. Even so, this looks like excellent netgaming material...
The Lost Legacy combines elements found in both Arm and Core forces, and there's three levels of tech to play with: basic, advanced and level three or `Krogoth' class. Power wise, the Legacy sits between the two sides: there's a little bit of Arm's light speediness crossed with Core's implacable clunkiness. Units can be fast on the ground, but still have a little sluggishness that stops them becoming too overpowered. The Legacy get a few Arm like EMP stunning weapons, a Arm Flea-like mite called a Bug, a Core style resurrection K-Bot and sub-Krogoth mech called a Titan, among others. The Titan, while heavy on its feet, has a few interesting touches where bits fly off it when it takes damage! Its gantry is first rate, and produces a Krogoth class construction vehicle that manufactures really advanced structures like the Legacy's Targeting Facility, rapid firing Bertha plasma cannon, and castle shaped super storage system and a monster Cold Fusion power plant.
TLL comes in either TA:Mutation or as a "regular" format where you permanently modify your TA folder. Like all third race mods, TLL uses a hacked version of the TotalA.exe executable. Current version: 1.1. |

Orpheriun 3

|
|
Monolithic Inc's second custom race that complements their Rhyoss Race. The Opheriuns are an entirely spaceship orientated race; using Monolith's clean cut textures and some new sounds. The Orpheriun's mutter darkly to themselves, and replace all the earthbound K-Bots and Vehicles with Fighters, Adv. Fighters, Corvettes and Frigates. Oddly enough, some unit classes stick to the ground (including the Orpheriun Commander) while others freely fly around. This mod works best using Space themed maps, like those designed for the Final Frontier mod. You'll find Orpheriun 3 metal mines impossible to place on the ground. The Arm and Core are absent from this mod, leaving players with the option of playing the Rhyoss or adding up to two other custom races in the spaces made available for them - but I've no idea exactly how you would do that. This race pack uses its own modified totala.exe, but is still compatible with TA:Mutation. Current version: beta2
Looks like there may be a second group, the Scr'ee, while a third custom race, the Zahn (beta1), has been released. |

Rumadians,
The |
|
The third race from M.A.D. TA, the unit group that produced the UTASP mega unit TC and a large number of high caliber custom units. The Rumadians are opposed to both Arm and Core and are slower, more expensive and harder hitting than the two regular forces. This mod is probably one of the best looking custom races around - sporting unique textures and some groovy new sounds, easily readable build icons (it'll still take you a while to learn all the new units) and a staggering number of smartly designed, bug free units you'll ever see.
In comparison to Arm and Core, the Rumadians play in slow motion. It takes a while to get up to speed, and most of their units clunk along slowly. When they do go on the warpath the results are spectacular - don't bother trying to use ultra light fast units against the newcomers - stick to heavy stuff. And not to worry, Arm and Core players will have plenty of time to tool up before the Rumadians come knocking. An excellent mod - well worth sacrificing a whole custom TA install for! This mod uses the Rhyoss hacked TA executable to run - apparently this is to make the mod compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. The next version is currently under development. Current version: 0.8. |

Rhyoss Race
 |
|
A complete race replacement project by Monolithic Inc. with a considerable number of units of all types and sizes. Rhyoss units do tend to look similar in shape (for example, all the advanced tanks look a bit square), despite the distinct functionality of each. This is a comprehensive mod that replaces practically everything except a few original sound effects. The Rhyoss seem fairly balanced, and you can bit them against Arm and Core for a three way battle. Monolithic's custom textures make for an interesting change. Some of the units do look quite interesting. The Rhyoss Commander, though, is a strange tripedal trolley thing... This race pack uses its own modified totala.exe, but is still compatible with TA:Mutation. |

So new, there's nothing to see yet. This is the in-house custom race for the equally new TA:Cataclysm design site. |
