French modding site TAAN is midway through a project to replace the basic old models of TA units with more detailed, spiffier ones. You can think of this as a graphical upgrade for all those dear old Total Annihilation units. Current version: 1.0. |

This mod angles for a highly tactical sort of game by reducing the cost of advanced units so that they are deployed for their usefulness, not their cost. In effect, basic and advanced units are leveled. Advanced units have also been tweaked to be a little more useful in a brawl. The mod uses the Orion AI, which replaces difficulty settings with skirmishing styles: Teching, Swarming and Porc'ing. Current version: 1.1. |

XTA a.k.a. Xtreme TA is a multiplayer honed modification produced by the Swedish Yankspankers, designed to fix bugs, add a bit of pep, improve the diversity of gameplay and still keep the original feel of Total Annihilation. At the very least, XTA can be seen as an alternative to the Switeck Bugfix. Its a mass of small renovations that beef up and retune all the units that many regular players consider "useless" in the original game to become a lot more playable. Current "standard" version: 0.95.
XTA has migrated across to the 3D world
of the TA Spring Project. See also
its Spring
Wiki entry. Current Spring version: 8.1.
