Babylon4 in all its splendour

Total Conversions to BABYLON 5
Babylon 5 is the massive sci-fi TV series about on the interstellar political intrigues of the massive diplomatic space station from Earth: the Babylon 5. Babylon 5 is unusual for a TV series in that its entire five year run was based on a single story arc. Its a natural for Homeworld, and yup, there's more B5 custom modding and ships than you can point a stick at!
Babylon 5 TC

A generic Babylon 5 conversion, that throws a cross section from all the ships of all the races in the series into a themed collection without trying to highlight a battle or a particular story thread. Last known version was 3.5beta3, updated in 2001, which came with its own music. Activity on this mod has ceased, but it is still available for download.

You can chase up more details, resources and general groovy stuff for Homeworld modding (mostly around Babylon 5, but not all) at one of the mod's principal authors, CnlPepper.Back

Babylon 5:
Conflict of Interest
B5:COI is a TC where players can mix and match their forces, and pit the major races in the TV series against each other. That is, you pick the version of the mod with the battle you want, install it and off you go. Currently, there's the Earth Alliance vs. Vorlon Empire and ISA vs. Drakh battles to pick from. Activity on this mod has certainly died down. There were noises about a Homeworld 2 version at some point.Back
Babylon 5: Great Wars weblink
Babylon 5: Great Wars: A set of total conversions, each dedicated to a particular Great War from the Babylon 5 series epic plotlines. These inter-related mods share ship models, texturing and other details, all collectively hosted at the B5Mods.com site. Not much seems to have happened with these mods of late - the authors seem to have migrated to Homeworld2 and their focus has widened to include creating modding tools for many games (mostly Relic titles) as well as tinker with spaceship models and actual mods.

The Narn-Centauri War replaces the default races with the Centauri and reptilian Narn's fleets. These two rivals score some flamboyant and colourful ship designs. Current version 2.0.

The Shadow War features the Shadows, Mimbari ships, the Vorlons and the earlier, ill fated Babylon 4 station (pictured top). Current Version: 1.0.

The EA Civil War is by far and away the best TC here, and concerns itself with the conflict between the fascist Clark government on Earth and dissidents in the Earth Alliance towards the end of the series. It replaces music, sounds, weapon and explosion effects, and has multiplayer maps based on the big battles in the TV series. This not only replaces the Kushan and Taiidani forces, but all the single player ones as well - you can replay the Homeworld single player campaign filled with Babylon 5 units. Current version: 2.5.

The Dilgar Invasion. This pits the EA Government against those half-feline, genocidal nutters, the Dilgar. Current version: 1.0.Back

Upgraded weapons effects!
A pair of Babylon 5 related mini-mods that do nothing more than change the in-game graphics and special effects. The B5TC Jump point Mod v1r4 changes the Homeworld hyperspace rectangle effect into the vivid blue conical effect of the TV series; while the Weapons Mod v2 completely replaces all weapon and explosion effects to match that of Babylon 5's. Major explosions generate flaming debris and wreckage, and beam weapons are thin, slick lines. Not all the effects are brilliant though: some bullets a little more than candy coloured globs (and what's with those pinky mauve zap guns, anyway?!) I think some of these effects and explosions may be incorporated into the New Graphical Mod for Homeworld mini-mod.Back
