SINGLE PLAYER RACE Mods
These mods replace the standard Kushan and Taiidani races with some of the single player races (such as the popular Turanic Raiders) or the unused material found or associated with the game.
RTSC says: "This is cool mod well worth a look and a play!"

Homeworld: Crusade Mod The Homeworld Crusade mod is a series of single player missions intended to be based on the Kadeshi - those twitchy religious freaks you meet in the earlier single player missions with the giant mushroom motherships and those nasty multi-beamed corvettes. HW:Crusade is attempting to work in the existing Homeworld universe with as much originality and detail as Relic's original missions, however there's still nothing to see yet. Nothing at all, since 2001...Back
Homeworld Advanced weblink The Homeworld Advanced mod mixes regular Homeworld with the single player races to produce an interesting mix. Its the Kushan (goodies) and the Kadeshi (single player religious nuts) versus the Taiidan (baddies) and the Turanic Raiders (space pirates). Current version: 4.0.Back
Kadeshi
Mod
Another mod that this time changes the Taiidan forces to that of the religious fanatics, the Kadeshi, found in the single player missions. You get the Swarmers, Tankers, the Multi-Beamed Frigates, those amazing mushroom needle shaped Motherships and a few other odds and bods from the single player missions. Current version: 2.1.4.Back

Raiders
Ascendant
Mod
The Raiders Ascendant Mod replaces the Taiidani with the Turanic Raiders. Its a complete line up of pirate shipping - from Scout to Battlecruiser - everything save for the original Taiidan Science Vessel. While it might seem superficially similar to the Turanic Raiders Mod, the Raiders Ascendant Mod does things its own way and builds nearly all of its ship models from scratch. I prefer this over the Turanic Raiders Mod (see below), simply because its still being developed and actually gives you an entire force that you can play with. It follows the same battered, second hand container styling of the original pirates. Its not a shabby effort either - although the authors still haven't cracked the problem of assigning player colours to the Raiders, so everyone who chooses them is lumped with the default, rusty colouring of the Pirates.

This mod does what you expect with the Raiders, importing their Assault Carrier and all the light Fighters and Missile Corvettes from the single player campaign, and then using custom models to fill in the rest. All the support and salvage vessels are there. Ship designs and texturing are neat and tidy, and their design motif - while a little crude compared to Relic's original masterpieces - is both consistent with the original Raiders and to itself. All the ships look like part of the same, distinctive set for a change. Its been a long while in coming, though; but better late than never, eh?

Designs can seem a little boxy, and it can be difficult distinguishing between the Raider's Assault Frigate, Missile Frigate, Resource Collector or Destroyer as they all about the same size, shape and colour. But there's no mistaking the Battlecruiser, which is so startlingly big that it can barely squeeze out of the Pirate's cylindrical Mothership (pictured). This thing is almost a third of the Kushan Mothership's size, and packs a super-cannon that shoots what looks like a miniature sun at its target.

Flying the Raider's strikecraft forces is always a blast, and having the Assault Carrier hold its own against enemy forces is even more gratifying. You can take on Destroyers and Frigate lines with it, provided its got its escorts. Filling the sky with Missile Corvettes is also pretty spectacular, and When you go on the offensive with the trusty old Assault Carrier blast the opposition with the Battlecruiser's super-cannon, backed up with all the right shipping and support, then you know the Turanic Raiders finally have a complete fleet to call their own.

This is highly recommended! Current version: 0.7. Back

T-Mat Mod

The T-Mat Mod features an extraordinary starfish shaped mothership and fleet that replaces the Taiidani fleet, with an upgraded Hiigaran fleet replacing the Kushan side. The T-MAT race was an ultimate pirate superpower designed for the original Homeworld, but due to technical reasons not implemented. This was originally intended to be a Cataclysm mod, but switched to Homeworld instead. While the mod showed signs of life, there haven't been any site updates since April 2004, and I don't think it ever produced a download. Its GameSpy forums have gone dead, too.

Note: The title page to the T-Mat mod link is a piece of fan fiction; click on the "They're coming" heading to enter the actual site itself.Back

Turanic Raiders
Mod
Turanic Raider madness!
This is one of the very first total conversions and one of the few Homeworld mods that claims to be actually finished. It was originally going to be a set of small inter-compatible mods that allowed the Kushan and the Taiidan sides to be replaced by the races that appear in the Homeworld single player campaign: the frontier pirates called the Turanic Raiders, the mysterious Bentusi Traders and the secretive and religious Kadeshi. Although I think production was stopped when only the Raiders were finished. Still worth a look in though; the Raiders replace the Kushan and their strikecraft can seriously dent the Taiidan.
